On Saturday, we went to the Gillestämma in Österbybruk. This is a sort of music festival in honor of Hasse Gille, who was a smith at the ironworks, a nyckelharpa builder and player, and generally an amazing personality. He led the Allspel at the Österbybruk Nyckelharpastämma for decades, and was instrumental in the restoration of the 17th-century water-powered hammer. We were lucky enough to be present the first time the hammers clanged in many years.
These days, Saturday is given over to the Gillestämma at the Hembygdsgård, and Sunday is for Österbybruksstämman. We were only able to attend the first event, as we had to leave our cabin in the woods and move to the rolling hills of Sörmland.
So here are some pics of people having a great deal of fun making music together! Including a few my friends in Boulder should recognize....
