Tännforsen

On our way from Åre to Trondheim, we stopped off to see Sweden’s largest waterfall, Tännforsen.  There’s not really a whole lot to say about a waterfall, so we’ll mostly let the photos do the talking.  Tännforsen is 60 meters wide, and about 37 meters high.  One thing to notice is that the Swedish authorities seem to feel that people should be smart enough to stay a safe distance back from the water…you can, in fact, walk right down to the edge, about 15 meters before the water plunges over the brink.  They assume you won’t decide to wade in….

However, for those that want to get close to the top of the waterfall, a provision has been made.

Like all big waterfalls, it has its own rainbows.

And lots of spray.

Here are three pictures, taken from farther and farther from the main part of the waterfall, providing some perspective views from downstream.

The waterfall ends as a bunch of white water in a lake.
